Jerry Agar’s Diet Makeover!

Posted by

Last Friday, I started NewsTalk1010’s Jerry Agar on his new eating program and so far he has been doing great! He’s been ready for this for about a month and as I highlighted on the show last week, when you’re ready to make a change, the follow through and success is much better than if someone tells you to make a change. I’m proud of him and grateful to be on this journey with him. No one ever regretted eating better!

I did have quite a few emails asking about what Jerry’s doing so here’s a quick rundown:

I changed it up a bit from last week’s blog. He is following the Transform30 program and he’s taking Juice Plus+ capsules that are full of 27 fruits, vegetables, and berries. Juice Plus+ is a blend of juice, that’s made into a powder, by a cool and very high-tech process, then encapsulated. It offers a very digestible and easy way to get loads of fruits and veggies in, without having to juice pounds and pounds of produce, or clean the juicer! I gave him this because he doesn’t eat well enough to support his body. He needs antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, and enzymes. That’s what he’s going to get with his daily Juice Plus+ capsules as well as improving his diet.

  • He’s starting on one shake or smoothie a day with Complete protein powder. He doesn’t eat breakfast, or anything actually, until closer to 1:30 pm and is at work at 5:00 am. That’s a very long time without food! His metabolism needs to get going within an hour of waking and that’s where the easy shake comes in. He has had that first thing and then eat again before his show starts at 9:00 am.
  • After a week of one shake a day, he will go up to two shakes a day and one meal packed with vegetables, protein and some carbs on the side. He needs to eat snacks because of his work hours – he’s on air, live from 9:00 am until noon. He will snack while the news is on as there really aren’t any breaks for him. I suggested a hard boiled egg and banana. Easy and quiet when chewing! He’s able to get eggs at work but they totally overcook them so he’s going to make his own eight-minute hard boiled egg (put an egg into boiling water and set your timer for eight minutes). That way the yolk isn’t gray, dry and chalky. It’s soft, yellow and delicious.
  • He will follow the two shakes, one meal for four weeks, then we will re-assess and see where he’s at. I hope he can eat enough, increases his fruits and vegetables and seriously reduce the amount of pizza, burgers, nightly snacks and quantity of food eaten later in the day.

Let’s watch what unfolds! We will be doing a weekly check in for a couple of minutes on the show and I’ll let you know on the blog, more of his successes and what’s working and what he’s learning.

I have looked at your website and listened to you on the air with Jerry as recently as this past Friday.

However, you don’t mention what Jerry has for Dinner?

Is this a burden for the rest of his family who might not have weight issues?

    Thank you,

He eats various foods at dinner. For the most part, some vegetables and a protein. Sometimes it’s even a few slices of pizza. He isn’t into avoiding any foods forever, but to eat in a way that he can sustain for a long term.
