Starting to Feed Your Baby Solids

Starting solid food can be a daunting time… how do you start, what do you start with, how much, what time of day are all questions at the top of every new mom’s list. You will receive handouts to guide you on what you need to know.

  • What foods are right for your baby at six, eight and nine months
  • Minimize and recognize any potential reactions to foods what to do about it
  • What’s available to buy vs. making from scratch and what to look for in store bought

Making Homemade Baby Food

Making homemade baby food is simple, fast and economical - when you know how. It exposes your baby to 'real' tastes and promotes great eating from the start well into toddler hood. It’s more nutritious and you’ll taste for yourself the difference between home made and store bought. Handouts and recipes are included.

What's Included:

  • What tools and small appliances do you need to make baby food?
  • What foods to make, how to combine foods to maximize nutrient content
  • What nutrients baby needs at different stages of development
  • How to minimize and recognize potential reactions to foods
  • Why is organic important for your baby
  • Food storage and serving

What To Do After Puree

How to move on to ‘the next stage’ of feeding your baby solids. Introducing chunkier meals and finger foods opens an independent feeding of finger foods and offering chunkier meals is a whole new step for everyone. Gagging can be normal at around nine months, but what to do when chunks, lumps and bumps are rejected? Handouts and recipes (including a list of finger foods) are included.

  • How to start introducing foods with more texture and finger foods
  • What to include in baby’s diet that covers all vitamin and mineral needs
  • New ideas and recipes of for the expanding palate including lentils
  • Keeping your baby interested in a variety of foods
