This Nutritionist Needs Help

People assume nutritionists are super healthy, that don’t suffer from any health issues and that they sail through the day eating healthy foods to fuel their boundless energy. Well… not in my case, at the moment.

Life happens to all of us, and over the past year or so I haven’t been looking after myself as well as usual. Working through the death of my mother earlier this year after a long fight with cancer, amongst other things, has certainly thrown off my nutrition game.

I still eat loads of veggies and fruit but sometimes they don’t sit right with me. I went through a time of eating smashed avocado and hard boiled egg on kamut toast, with sea salt and black pepper. I was addicted. However, it brought on an interesting symptom that I hadn’t seen before. My poo would float after each time I ate avocado. I started to notice the same thing when I ate other foods that contained fats too, even good fats.

Am I a Water Snob?

Posted by

Strauss Water Canada Review on SproutRight.comI’m often asked what I drink. I could be wrong but I don’t think I’m being asked about the type of grape in my wine glass.

I drink water. I drink water and loads of it. I don’t drink pop, juice, vitamin water, ice tea or much else other than water and herb teas in the winter. I don’t add ice or make it cold unless it’s crazy hot outside. I do add lemon, lime, mint, cucumber and berries at different times depending on my mood.

Leapfrogging Gone Wrong

Last summer my daughters and I went to visit my family in the UK for a month. Whenever we go, we stay for at least three weeks so we can catch up with friends and family. My parents’ home goes from calm, neat and tidy to a whirlwind of children, toys, laughter and a whole lotta mess.

I like to sit down and talk with my kids before any trip to find out what each of us would like to do while away. It helps manage expectations and potential disappointment. Unanimously Legoland (with them, not me) came up, as did the Miniature Village and a few favourite shops and afternoon tea. Not on the list, but a great idea was the Olympic Park – home of the London 2012 games. A friend of my older sister suggested it so we thought it sounded like fun.

Clean up the Mess

Posted by

I’ve got two kids and a dog so there is no end to the mess in my house. I’m usually asking for my daughters to clean up this or that, wipe the dog’s paws after a digging session in the back yard. But when it’s me that makes the mess, it brings another level of frustration. Why didn’t I just… you know. Have to stop and clean it up right in the middle of getting stuff done.

I was asked by a new paper towel company, Viva Towels, to check out their towels that stretch (and they do), so I said sure. I have lots to use it on, so here’s my verdict. But don’t take my word for it. Check out Viva Towels online or grab a coupon here.
